Fish death is one of the main problems that beginner aquarist and even some expert aquarist face. It's frustrating to the extent that most quit keeping aquarium fish. But fish death can be avoided. Most fish deaths are caused as a result of both an internal and external types parasites that compete with the fish in tank.

Therefore, always monitor your aquarium fish for you to know if a parasite already exists in it and for you provide a cure to your pet to keep it alive. Be vigilant of the situations below because these are done by a fish which has the White Spot disease.

- Usually on a lying position either above or below the aquarium

- Rubbing of the body against rocks

- Searching on the top water for air

- Doesn't eat

- General dullness and lethargy

- Hovering in a corner

- Swimming with an upward clamps

The first thing that you would be able to see on the fins or body of your fish is the growing of spots which has the color white and the size of the head of a pin. This kind of illness is called the White Spot disease which is brought by the Ichthyophthirius Multifillis parasite.

This type of pest has the capacity to swim without restrictions and can easily stick to a fish. The cure for its victim is the liquid in the name of Methylene Blue. It is available for a single solution at a one cent price which is offered by fish stores or a trusted chemist. All you need to do is place in one smooth motion 0.8 to 1.0ml of it in one water gallon. Do this again after 24 to 48 hours.

The fishes must remain in this bath until every while spot has disappeared. A water change after treatment is necessary or else prolonged contact with the chemical may affect the fertility of the fish. Another tip if you are using a side filter with activated charcoal should remove it to prevent the coal from absorbing the Methylene Blue.

A non-natural aeration which produces coarse bubbles is essential while having your fishes treated since an aquarium floor filled with dirt can also seep the healing liquid. Therefore, make sure that the aquarium's floor is spic and span first. Plants and smaller fishes are completely safe with a little dosage of the Methylene Blue.
